As we step into January, Xbox players brace themselves for another round of server shutdowns. To help you prioritize your gaming sessions over the coming weeks, we’ve compiled a comprehensive list of which games will be affected by these closures in January 2025. You can check it alongside our December 2024 list of Xbox server shutdowns.
### Scheduled Xbox Server Closures for January 2025
The WWE 2K23 servers were initially set to close back on September 30, but 2K Games decided to push the shutdown to January. Unfortunately, both the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One versions will lose their online functionalities on January 6, 2025. This will impact 13 achievements for each version, making them unattainable. It’s also important to mention that WWE 2K23 has already been removed from the Xbox store.
On January 16, 2025, it’s curtains for the EA Sports Rory McIlroy PGA Tour servers. Once that happens, the game will lose two online-only achievements: Playing For Fun and Playing For Rank. Securing these achievements is pretty straightforward—they simply require you to participate in an unranked head-to-head game. That said, two other achievements in the game are already out of commission, so completionists may find themselves stuck.
Closing out the month, Bandai Namco’s Blue Protocol servers will shut down on January 18, 2025. Being a free-to-play MMORPG, it was only accessible through the Japanese Xbox store after plans for a Western release were scrapped. Consequently, not many players have ventured into Blue Protocol, but rest assured that all achievements tied to the game will be discontinued once the servers go dark.
Just a quick reminder, if you missed it, a total of 19 Xbox games are also slated for delisting in December 2024, including some notable titles. Are any of their online achievements still on your to-do list? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
