The Canadian game development studio Worlds Untold has decided to put a temporary hold on its operations. This unexpected turn of events was shared in a post on LinkedIn, where the company mentioned that they are actively looking for a new partner. Worlds Untold first came into the limelight back in November 2023, with industry veteran Mac Walters, formerly of BioWare, leading the team. Initially, they had the backing of the Chinese gaming powerhouse, NetEase. We’ve reached out to NetEase to clarify the status of their partnership.
“This wasn’t a decision we took lightly. It’s been a very personal journey for us, and we take immense pride in what we’ve accomplished together,” the studio expressed on LinkedIn.
During this hiatus, the talented individuals from Worlds Untold will be seeking other opportunities. If you’re in need of dedicated and skilled professionals, don’t hesitate to make contact—we’d be thrilled to connect you with some of the finest people we’ve ever had the pleasure of working alongside.
This news is no doubt disappointing for everyone involved, but there’s a sense of gratitude for the support from partners, friends, and family. While this is a pause, it’s not the end. The team looks forward to unveiling the next chapter when the time is right.
