The Video Game History Foundation just made an exciting announcement today: they’ve opened up early access to their digital library filled with research materials. From the get-go, this library houses over 1,500 text-searchable magazines that are out of print, many of which were rarely available until now. There’s also a treasure trove of previously unseen game development materials, artwork, press kits, promotional content, and much more.
For those eager to dive in, you can check out the library by visiting Library.GameHistory.Org.
Among the highlights of this launch are the Mark Flitman collection and the Cyan collection. We at NWR had the privilege of accessing a few pieces from the Mark Flitman collection while working on our 30th-anniversary Star Fox documentary, as well as our detailed exploration of Dylan Cuthbert’s Eclipse demo, both in collaboration with the Video Game History Foundation. On the other hand, the Cyan collection is a real gem, offering over 100 hours of footage from the making of the Myst series.
