Fast Travel Games, a well-regarded name in the VR gaming scene, has shared some thrilling news today: their much-anticipated VR shooter, Action Hero, is gearing up for its debut on Quest devices next month, drawing inspiration from the popular Superhot series.
The heart of Action Hero beats with the innovative time-bending mechanic similar to that in Superhot and its VR version, Superhot VR. In this game, time pauses unless you move, giving players the unique chance to meticulously choreograph their every move, channeling their inner John Wick.
Scheduled for release on December 12th for Quest 2 headsets and newer models, Action Hero throws players into the limelight as the stars of five distinct cinematic adventures across various genres.
The gameplay is crafted around cinematic experiences, where each ‘film’ unfolds across four acts, and each act breaks down into five thrilling scenes. Players progress by defeating enemies and deftly dodging obstacles, all in stunning slow motion. The twist: time speeds up as you move more quickly. To succeed, fast reflexes and sharp strategy are a must. But beware—taking damage sends you back to the start of the act, upping the stakes significantly.
So far, Fast Travel Games has teased a few intriguing film genres, including a gripping heist, an adventurous Indiana Jones-style quest, an intense cyborg conflict, and a ninja-themed thriller, the latter prominently featured in the latest trailer.
In addition to the enthralling battles in slow motion, Action Hero promises boss fights and a variety of weapons tailored to each movie. There’s also an extra layer of excitement with five ‘Director’s Cuts.’ These offer a twist on each level, presenting new, crazier, and more challenging scenarios for those brave enough to tackle them.
Exclusively available on Quest 2 and later models, Action Hero drops on December 12th with a price tag of $20. If you’re eager to dive into this cinematic VR spectacle, don’t forget to add it to your wishlist on the Horizon Store right away!
