Sony has just unveiled its annual report detailing the top downloads across its diverse PlayStation platforms for the year 2024. Looking at the stats for the PSVR 2, there’s not much of a shift from its debut year, and honestly, this doesn’t come as a big shock.
As PSVR 2 approaches its second anniversary, some critics argue that the PS5-compatible VR headset has been somewhat overlooked since its launch in February 2023. They point to a lack of exclusive titles and the robust developer support seen with the original PSVR. However, devoted fans of the headset would beg to differ.
In terms of its capabilities, PSVR 2 has much to boast about. It allows developers to push visual boundaries and enhance rendering resolution beyond what Meta’s Quest 3 offers. Plus, last June, Sony made it possible to connect and play PC VR games with a wired adapter. Yet, when it comes to what gamers are actually choosing to download from the PlayStation Store, the numbers speak for themselves.
Take a look at the adjusted list below, which includes the original release dates for context:
PSVR 2 Top Downloads 2024

Swordsman VR (2020) | Creed: Rise to Glory – Championship Edition (2019) |
Metro Awakening (2024) | Legendary Tales (2024) |
As expected, the ever-popular Beat Saber from 2018 clinched the number one spot in both North America and Europe. This isn’t a negative mark against the platform; in fact, it’s often the first game we recommend for anyone diving into VR.
While browsing the list, you’ll notice that only a couple of games released in 2024 made the cut. Metro Awakening by Vertigo Games, which came out in November, had just a brief window to make its mark. Similarly, Legendary Tales by Urban Wolf Games wriggled in after launching its 1.0 version in February, following an extended Early Access period on Steam.
Let’s not overlook the impressive Arizona Sunshine 2 from Vertigo Games, a zombie shooter that hit the scene in December 2023. Although it had less than a month to gain traction last year, it emerged as one of the year’s standout titles.
Now, let’s rewind to the top PSVR 2 downloads for 2023, which was the headset’s first complete year post-launch in February:
