Riot Games has finally revealed the name of its much-anticipated new trading card game: Riftbound: League of Legends Trading Card Game. Riftbound plunges players into the vibrant world of Runeterra, the familiar backdrop of League of Legends and Arcane, as well as some of Riot’s other tabletop ventures. Set to debut with an impressive collection of over 300 cards, the initial set is titled Origins. It will make its first appearance in China during the summer, with an October 25 release scheduled for many English-speaking countries, as per Riot’s press announcement.
Riftbound promises versatile gameplay, offering 1v1, 2v2, or even free-for-all multiplayer battles. Much like the digital card game Legend of Runeterra, this trading card experience will feature champions as the focal point. Players have the option to construct their decks centered around these powerful champions, augmented with supporting cards. Expect Champion Decks—pre-packaged 56-card sets—highlighting champions like Viktor, Jinx, and Lee Sin. Additionally, fan-favorites such as Annie, Garen, Lux, Master Yi, Volibear, and Yasuo will make appearances. These champions are complemented by cards depicting in-game items, runes, and spells. The official site has also teased artwork for iconic characters like Kai’Sa and Ahri.
For those eager to dive in, players can start with the Riftbound: Proving Grounds boxed set, which offers a variety of starter decks or opt for 14-card booster packs. Riot is collaborating with UVS Games, a seasoned distributor known in the TCG community, to ensure Riftbound is readily available at your neighborhood game store. If your local shop stocks the UniVersus Collectible Card Game—a series featuring characters from popular titles like Attack on Titan and Critical Role—then you’re likely to find Riftbound gracing its shelves soon.
