According to recent reports, Warner Bros has decided to pull the plug on a planned expansion for Hogwarts Legacy. The expansion was supposed to launch alongside a Definitive Edition of the popular Harry Potter-themed action RPG, bringing with it some fresh storylines.
Word has it that the decision to cancel came after a reassessment of the content versus the projected price. Warner Bros concluded that the expansion didn’t offer enough to justify the cost to players. Avalanche Software, the original developer of Hogwarts Legacy, was hard at work on this project alongside Rocksteady. Interestingly, Avalanche is said to be crafting a sequel to the game as well.
In the meantime, Rocksteady, having decided to stop supporting next year’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, recently laid off some employees. This comes amidst a challenging period for Warner Bros, which openly acknowledged last year that their gaming sector hadn’t been meeting expectations. The same year, they wrote off a hefty $200 million for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, and more recently, they shut down three studios, including Monolith. Adding to the changes, longtime executive David Haddad announced he was stepping down.
