Hitman: World of Assassination is pushed back to next year for PlayStation VR2 fans. Originally, during September’s State of Play, IO Interactive said we’d get the entire trilogy on PlayStation VR2 this December. However, players will now have to wait until March 27, 2025. The developers are taking this extra time to polish the game and introduce features like active manual reloading.
IO Interactive explained their decision further on the PlayStation Blog. They mentioned, “First of all, we would like to address the change in the release date. Initially slated for December 2024, we’ve moved the launch to March 27, 2025. It wasn’t an easy decision because we know there’s been a lot of excitement to see Hitman on PS VR2. Your enthusiasm following our announcement warmed our hearts.”
The message continued to say that their top priority remains delivering a top-notch gaming experience. With the delay, they aim to refine every detail, making the game as smooth and immersive as possible. Plus, this extra time gives them a chance to include some extra features, such as active reloading, that they’re particularly excited about for this VR2 version.
This isn’t the first time IO Interactive has brought Hitman to VR. They’ve previously launched versions for Quest and PC VR/PSVR. In this highly anticipated release, you’ll revisit all the main levels of the rebooted trilogy, equipped with dual-wielding options, room-scale gameplay, and new controls and mechanics.
In an exciting development for PS VR2, Hitman: World of Assassination introduces “positional interactions.” So instead of just pressing buttons, you’ll be physically simulating actions in the game world—think more in terms of actually moving a vial to pour poison rather than just a simple button press. Plus, you’ll be able to interact with quest items in a more tactile way, such as swiping a keycard or physically turning a lock.
Mark your calendars for March 27, 2025, when Hitman: World of Assassination debuts on PlayStation VR2. It will be available as a $10 upgrade for those who already own the PS5 flatscreen version.
