There have been countless attempts over the years to bring elements from one Fallout game into another, but now there’s a fresh twist that seems perfectly fitting. Enter The Sims 2: New Vegas, a fan-made project that’s reimagining arguably the best Fallout game in a new light—within the world of The Sims 2. This project is another testament to what can happen when passionate Fallout fans decide to channel their creativity.
On Reddit, you’ll find a dedicated community discussing this intriguing work-in-progress. The project was first highlighted by TheGamer, and it’s brought to life by Baron Pulitzer, who goes by FalloutPropMaster online. By day, he seemingly runs an independent film production company, but for the past week or so, he’s been sharing updates on this unique endeavor.
Pulitzer expressed his impatience in waiting for a remastered version of Fallout: New Vegas in his introductory post. He dreams of a version that not only revisits cut content from the game’s development phase but also breathes new life into it. His inspiration came from discovering a few mods on ModTheSims by a user named ‘lilipad,’ who had recreated some of the casinos from the New Vegas Strip within The Sims 2. This sparked Pulitzer’s ambition to recreate New Vegas in this classic simulation title, despite his lack of experience modding the game, unlike his past work with Fallout 3 and New Vegas.
Over the past week, Pulitzer has been reacquainting himself with tools like Milkshape, FOMM, Blender, and Nifscope—tools he last used over a decade ago. This nostalgic journey not only serves as a creative outlet for him but also adds a fresh challenge to his free time.
So far, he’s been plotting out where different iconic locations in the Mojave Wasteland will fit into his Sims neighborhood, including The Strip and Freeside. A re-creation of Goodsprings’ Prospector Saloon has already been completed because, naturally, that’s the perfect starting point for such a project.
Characters are also taking shape in the game. Some screenshots feature Vulpes Inculta, that memorable Legion member with the wolf hat, hanging out with a couple of ghouls, and even playing a game of kickball with them. Additionally, there’s a household composed of various companions, likely sharing tales of how a certain courier has often used them as cannon fodder during his escapades.
The latest updates showcase a revamped version of The Sims 2’s user interface with a distinctive Fallout-style touch, which is undeniably cool.
This is definitely a project to keep on your radar, especially if you’re reliving The Sims 2 as part of the Legacy Collection remaster and find yourself longing to venture back into the Mojave. Who knows, you might find yourself playing as a cannibal, inadvertently vilified for trying to enjoy some Caesar salad, and ultimately choosing to go independent in Vegas just to avoid strange looks from the NCR.
