You read that right—PlayStation Network (PSN) is down at the moment. If you were hoping to dive into some online gaming on your PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, you’ll have to press pause for now.
So far, the only official word comes from the Ask PlayStation Japan’s Twitter feed. Their post, translated to English by Twitter’s handy translation tool, reads as follows:
“Currently, the PlayStation ™ Network (along with PlayStation ® Store) might not be up and running. We sincerely apologize for any hassle this causes our users. We’re investigating the cause and actively working to bring everything back online, so hang tight.”
In layman’s terms, Sony is aware of the problem but hasn’t given any clues about when it’ll be sorted out. Unfortunately, we just have to sit tight for the time being.
To top it all off, the timing couldn’t be worse—the Monster Hunter Wilds Open beta is happening right now. This means PlayStation players are stuck on the sidelines, while Xbox and PC gamers are diving in and having a great time. Of course, even if Wilds isn’t your cup of tea, it’s the weekend. This is prime time for gaming, especially for those of us balancing jobs and responsibilities. Let’s cross our fingers that PSN is up and running again soon.
