Hey gamers, especially those who love PlayStation and vibrant, colorful adventures! Last night was a big one for Astro Bot, snagging the prestigious BAFTA award for Game of the Year. This charming game managed to clinch the top spot, surpassing brilliant titles like Helldivers 2 and Balatro.
Astro Bot didn’t just walk away with the top honor; it also grabbed several other awards, including accolades for Audio Achievement, Animation, Family, and Game Design. This victory builds on its previous success at The Game Awards last year, where it also nabbed Game of the Year amidst a packed 2024 lineup.
During the awards ceremony, the whole team gathered to accept their accolades, but it was Nicolas Doucet who took the stage for a heartfelt speech. He expressed his gratitude to the team in Japan, acknowledging their hard work and dedication. “Thank you so much to everyone back in Japan. They put so much love and care into this game every single day. We weren’t aiming to win; we just wanted to brighten people’s lives,” he shared.
Doucet also gave shout-outs to key team members, the game’s composer, everyone at PlayStation, and all the partners whose games featured in Astro Bot. He didn’t forget to thank the BAFTA academy, the families of the developers, and all the gaming pioneers who paved the way.
