Hey Hunters! The year 2025 has finally arrived, and with it comes the anticipation for “Monster Hunter Wilds.” We’ve got fresh details from the latest trailer and some exciting information about the second open beta test (OBT2).
To kick things off, let’s dive into the latest trailer’s reveals.
In the recently dropped footage, we get a glimpse of Iceshard Cliffs, a new locale full of mysteries and formidable monsters. This area is a harsh, snowy expanse, where hunters and the Expedition Team brave fierce blizzards. Traversing these cliffs, you’ll find collapsing debris, icy fog, and fluttering objects swirling in the chilly air. It’s an ecosystem teeming with life uniquely adapted to its relentless conditions.
Once you’re at the Iceshard Cliffs, keep an eye out for Rove, a wandering Wudwud—a quirky creature you’ll encounter in this frosty landscape.
Speaking of beasts, the locale is teeming with formidable foes. Meet Hirabami, a leviathan with tail claws sharp enough to tear through ice, and a wind-catching membrane on its neck, allowing it to float effortlessly. The latest trailer hints at a large menacing monster confronting a group of Hirabami.
And that’s not all—Nerscylla, a Temnoceran, makes a return to the Monster Hunter universe. With a deadly horn, it makes quick work of its prey, including, as seen in the trailer, a poor Gypceros. Then, there’s the menacing Gore Magala, launching an unexpected assault on Fabius and the Expedition Team. This fan-favorite monster promises a thrilling challenge in the complete game.
In unfolding the story of Arkveld, the White Wraith, the trailer teases more of the flagship monster’s mysterious nature. As you progress through the game’s rich storyline, you’ll uncover the true essence of Arkveld and its motives, particularly with its chain-like appendages that it uses effectively in battles.
Thrilling news for hunters: Arkveld will appear in the second open beta test! Mark your calendars for these Pacific Time sessions: February 6th to 9th and February 13th to 16th, with pre-loading available from February 5th. Both sessions present the same content as the previous beta, featuring Character Creation, a Story Trial, and the Doshagma Hunt. After dispatching Doshagma, more hunts await!
In OBT2, you’ll face Gypceros, a cunning Bird Wyvern known for its unique behaviors. It also marks your first encounter with Arkveld, as the flagship emerges in an advanced and challenging quest designed for experienced hunters.
New for this beta is the Training Area accessible from the base camp to polish your skills across different weapons. Remember, though, that the beta doesn’t yet reflect all the balancing adjustments slated for the final release.
For those seeking a more private hunting experience, create a Private Lobby or opt for the Online Single Player mode, with the option to switch temporarily to multiplayer with an SOS Flare.
Whether you missed the first OBT or crave more monster action, OBT2 is ready for you. It’s open to all PS5 users with a PlayStation Network account, and there’s no need for a PlayStation Plus subscription.
Participants in OBT2 will receive a stylish Felyne pendant and a Bonus Item pack in the full game. If you joined the previous beta, rewards are already on the way for you. Note for PS5 Pro users: OBT2 can be played but it doesn’t yet feature PS5 Pro enhancements, which will arrive with the full game’s launch.
Characters crafted during the Open Beta can be transferred to the full version, although minor adjustments to character edit recipes may occur.
We’re counting down to the release of “Monster Hunter Wilds” on February 28. Thanks for your enthusiasm and support—we’re eager to see everyone in the Forbidden Lands!
Lastly, pre-order the game on the PlayStation Store to pre-load it 48 hours ahead of launch, so you can leap straight into the hunt without delay!
