The Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 community has recently been buzzing with discussions about the Prop Hunt game mode. Players have pointed out issues such as a lack of penalties for spraying bullets wildly and the ineffectiveness of flash mechanics. Even though Prop Hunt has been a beloved feature since its debut, something about its execution in Black Ops 6 isn’t quite sitting right with the fans.
Originally making its mark as a community mod in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Prop Hunt found its way into the official lineup with Call of Duty: WW2 and has featured in numerous titles since then. It’s a mode that’s as classic as Zombies, capturing players’ hearts over the years. Its debut in Black Ops 6 came with the thrilling Season 1 update, alongside new weapons, maps, and perks. However, despite its welcome return, this version of Prop Hunt hasn’t met everyone’s expectations compared to its predecessors.
Highlighted critiques have surfaced from various players, including Reddit users like _Jaffamuncher and PC-Tamer. These players note several shortcomings in the new Prop Hunt, such as infinite ammo for hunters, allowing them to shoot indiscriminately without consequence, and flashes that fail to provide cover for props trying to reposition. Interestingly, PC-Tamer notes that modded versions of Prop Hunt have implemented a system where hunters incur damage for shooting at non-prop objects, effectively discouraging reckless shooting.
As the dust settles from the excitement of Season 1’s launch, some fans have suggested that reining in hunters’ shooting sprees by limiting ammunition could improve the mode significantly. The flash issue, on the other hand, might just be a bug, as props are supposed to capitalize on flashes to find new hiding spots, similar to how it worked in earlier games like Call of Duty: WW2.
Given that Prop Hunt has just made its way into Black Ops 6, there’s potential for Treyarch to refine and update the mode in response to community feedback. With Black Ops 6 slated for continued support across numerous seasons, all eyes are on Treyarch for possible tweaks to enhance Prop Hunt.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, crafted by Treyarch and Raven, immerses players in a thrilling narrative set against the backdrop of the early ’90s—a period marked by the tumultuous end of the Cold War. The campaign offers dynamic gameplay, from heists to spy activities, while the multiplayer mode boasts 16 fresh maps, including returns to 6v6 core and 2v2 strike formats.
In addition, the return of Round-Based Zombies promises adrenaline-pumping fun with two new maps at launch. As post-launch content unfolds, even more intriguing maps and experiences are set to enrich both Multiplayer and Zombies modes. With a release date of October 25, 2024, across various platforms, Black Ops 6 offers a fully optimized experience with features like cross-play and cross-save, catering to fans eager to dive into this next installment in the series.
