New Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Trailer Includes Unexpected Pokemon Nod, Sparking Thoughts of an Epic Crossover

Paramount and Sega surprised us with a new sneak peek at Sonic the Hedgehog 3 today, and it features a bit of an unexpected nod to Pokemon.

A few months have passed since the first trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 debuted, and with the film’s release date fast approaching, the anticipation has been palpable among fans. If you’re one of those eagerly waiting, today is your day! Paramount just unveiled the second official trailer for this much-anticipated third installment, and it includes a quirky moment where a kid asks if Tails is Detective Pikachu. First off, they can totally do that. Secondly, it was a delightful surprise! And now I can’t help but daydream about what a crossover like that might look like.

Are they hinting at some Sonic and Pokemon action? I mean, just picture Sonic teaming up with Jolteon, which fits him perfectly with its speedy nature and edgy vibe. Or perhaps they’re imagining Knuckles as a Pokemon—now that would be interesting! One thing’s for sure, this trailer is a fun watch and gives us a better glimpse of the Chao-themed restaurant Team Sonic visits. Honestly, that might just be the highlight for me. Though, brace yourselves, as there’s also a poignant scene with Shadow and Maria that might just bring on the tears for some of us nostalgic fans.

Beyond what the trailers show, the movie holds much more excitement. Director Jeff Fowler hinted at potential glimpses of characters who could join the series in the future. While nothing’s confirmed, I’m betting on Big the Cat making an appearance.
