Avowed isn’t set to hit PlayStation platforms anytime soon, but for those gaming on a PC, mods can help create a similar experience.
It’s a fair bet to think Avowed might eventually land on PlayStation. With Xbox head Phil Spencer often speaking about extending their games to other platforms, it seems logical. There are even whispers about Halo possibly appearing on the Nintendo Switch 2. So, thinking Avowed could bypass the PS5 in the long run seems unlikely to me, even if it takes a while. As of now, the game is exclusive to the Xbox Series X/S and PC. Both are solid choices for gaming, though I personally lean toward the PlayStation’s UI. It just has a familiar and homey vibe for me.
But fear not! Modders, as always, come to the rescue. There’s already a mod available that swaps the game’s controller UI with PlayStation button prompts. Need to pick up an item? Just hit that square button. Not sure which button jumps? Trusty old cross button to the rescue—unless you’re diving into Kingdom Hearts, of course. Credit goes to modder NeuroticNinjah for creating this convenient mod, perfect for gamers who prefer a PlayStation controller on their PC but get bugged by mismatched button icons.
There’s more for those eager to feel like they’re on a PlayStation journey with Avowed. Modder Chachinito has crafted a mod that changes the Avowed splash screen to the PlayStation Studios one. While it doesn’t change gameplay, it’s a nod for PlayStation devotees who are sticking it out on PC. It might be a small act of rebellion against the game being technically an Xbox exclusive, but hey, sometimes humor born from a little bit of spite can be entertaining.
We’ll have to wait and see if Avowed arrives on PlayStation before its developer drops any DLC or a sequel. Given the time these projects usually take, my guess is that PlayStation fans will get their shot—eventually.
