There’s a new buzz surrounding an elusive game that’s recently surfaced online: Terminator 2D: No Fate. This unannounced title made headlines when its age rating was accidentally published a bit too soon. While details are sparse, it seems poised to join the ever-expanding roster of Terminator games.
From the franchise’s inception, Terminator video games have kept pace with the movies. The journey began back in 1991 with "The Terminator" for DOS, crafted by Bethesda Softworks just seven years after the original film premiered. Over the past 30 years, more than two dozen games have been released, across platforms ranging from PCs and consoles to arcades and pinball tables.
The latest development hints at a new addition on the horizon as discovered through the Australian Classification Board database. Keen-eyed enthusiasts at Gematsu were first to notice this update from December 19. The listing names a game called Terminator 2D: No Fate, attributed to Reef Entertainment both in development and publishing. Fans might recall that the same British company brought us the 2019 game Terminator: Resistance, created by Polish studio Teyon.
Terminator 2D: No Fate Age Rating Overview
The title alone suggests that No Fate will take the form of a 2D game, likely differing significantly from Terminator: Resistance. The Australia-based board assessed this new title with a Mature (M) rating, just below the Mature Accompanied (MA 15+) rating given to the previous game by Reef. The game’s content, including unclarified themes, instances of violence, and coarse language, were highlighted as contributing factors to this classification.
Terminator 2D: No Fate Is Reportedly Coming to Both PC and Consoles
Adding to the intrigue, the age rating documentation lists the game as being available on numerous platforms: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. While the classification doesn’t delve into further specifics, its existence does suggest the game is inching closer to an official release. A similar pattern occurred with Terminator: Resistance, where the rating appeared two weeks before its official reveal and just over two months before its launch.
2 Terminator Games May Be Coming in 2025
If we follow the pattern, Terminator 2D: No Fate could potentially drop by early 2025. This release would coincide with another title, Nacon’s Terminator: Survivors, which shifted its originally planned late 2024 debut to 2025. Both games promise an exciting year for fans of this storied sci-fi series.
