In Fortnite OG Season 2 on PC, some players are finding that the Zapotron weapon isn’t delivering any damage—a frustrating discovery for many in the community. Although Epic Games has issued a patch to address this issue, it appears that not everyone is experiencing relief from the bug. The timeline for further fixes remains uncertain.
It seems that every so often, Fortnite players stumble upon issues that managed to slip through the cracks of Epic Games’ testing processes, and it looks like the Zapotron glitch is the newest one to surface. When players grab this rare weapon in OG Season 2, many expect an edge in battle due to its legendary status. However, given the complications around its functionality, that advantage might be an illusion.
The OG game mode, having made its return since the original Fortnite season, has added new twists, showcasing classic areas, updated item rotations, and intriguing spins on past cosmetics. Although the OG Season 2 aims to capture the nostalgia of the initial run, it bridges some modern gameplay mechanics, such as the ability to sprint or heal while moving, which deviates slightly from the original experience. Nonetheless, players are drawn to this version for a taste of what they remember from the past, choosing it over the contemporary Chapter 6 Season 1. But some nostalgic fans have stumbled upon issues with the Zapotron now, especially when it doesn’t deal damage despite being fully charged.
Recently, a Fortnite player, Guille_GAG, shared a video on Twitter that illustrates the Zapotron’s failure to work properly. In the clip, Guille_GAG attempts to use the Zapotron against a stationary opponent wearing Iron Man skin. After the charge-up period, they fire at close range, yet the target remains unharmed. This scenario repeats multiple times, highlighting the ongoing issue despite an update from Fortnite Status indicating that the problem was resolved. Evidently, not all players have benefited from the patch.
The current state of the Zapotron renders it temporarily ineffective for PC players compared to alternative weapons—which might even include a simple pistol—since those deliver consistent damage. The charging mechanism of the Zapotron adds complexity to its aim, intensifying its ineffectiveness when compounding glitches are taken into account. Interestingly, despite the weapon’s inconsistency, console users aren’t experiencing this issue, leading players to speculate that it might tie back to the game’s anti-cheat measures.
As Epic Games continues to refine Fortnite, they may need to tweak or temporarily remove the Zapotron from play until these problems are ironed out. Given the breadth of items in the current OG loot pool, it could be less noticeable if it’s sidelined for further tweaking.
In Fortnite, the dynamic gameplay keeps evolving, offering players rich and varied experiences across different modes and crossovers, like the rumored potential collaboration with Mortal Kombat. With the game constantly pushing the envelope, the perks, pitfalls, and unpredictability keep Fortnite enthusiasts on their toes.
