The Binary Mill, an indie XR studio, has exciting news for PlayStation VR 2 enthusiasts: their space mining adventure, “Into Black,” is set to expand beyond its Quest exclusivity. This Deep Rock Galactic-inspired game initially launched on Quest in October and offers both single-player and four-player cooperative gameplay. As players navigate through more than 20 levels, each set in distinct biomes, they will need to scavenge resources, upgrade their tools, and repair their ship while fending off various enemies to eventually escape the hazardous alien planet.
Fans of competitive gameplay will be thrilled to learn that the PSVR 2 version will introduce the ‘Singularity’ mode. This PvPvE experience pits you against up to 11 other players online, challenging you to craft strategic alliances as you maneuver through an increasingly tight maze. But beware: collecting excessive loot could be your downfall if you get too greedy.
The transition to PSVR 2 doesn’t stop at new features; The Binary Mill is also enhancing “Into Black” with a range of technical upgrades. Expect revamped environments, dynamic lighting and shadows, HDR support, and eye-tracked foveated rendering. Thanks to the PSVR 2’s advanced hardware, players can also anticipate more sophisticated haptic feedback with adaptive triggers and the headset’s rumble feature.
Currently, there’s no confirmation on whether cross-play with Quest will be available at launch. In fact, an update from the studio confirmed that cross-play won’t be part of the initial PSVR 2 release.
While we’re still waiting for an official trailer to showcase all these PSVR 2 enhancements, the studio has shared a few teaser images and GIFs to give players a taste of what’s to come. Although a specific release date hasn’t been announced, The Binary Mill assures fans that “Into Black” will be arriving “soon.” In the meantime, eager players can add the game to their wishlist on the PlayStation Store.
