Intel’s XeSS technology is now enhancing over 150 games, and with XeSS 2 in its early stages, even more titles are set to integrate this advanced feature soon.
The journey of Intel’s XeSS technology has been intriguing. As the pioneer among discrete GPU makers to introduce a super-sampling approach, Intel unveiled this technology alongside its first Arc Alchemist line. Over two years since its debut, XeSS has evolved substantially, with XeSS 2 marking the latest chapter.
Although XeSS 2 hasn’t penetrated the gaming industry extensively yet, the initial XeSS 1.0 and its subsequent updates have been adopted by a vast number of games. Intel proudly announced that their XeSS feature is incorporated in over 150 games, with additional titles on the horizon.
For game enthusiasts, a comprehensive list of games that utilize XeSS technology is available, and it includes several major modern AAA titles. However, in terms of competition, XeSS still lags behind AMD’s FSR and NVIDIA’s DLSS.
A Twitter announcement by Intel Gaming stated, “We’ve hit the mark on 150+ games with #XeSS support, with more on the way!” – emphasizing Intel’s commitment to enhancing gaming experiences through AI upscaling.
Despite notable progress, Intel has considerable ground to cover to match the strides made by its competitors. While most games currently feature XeSS 1, XeSS 2 hasn’t seen widespread deployment yet. At present, only F1 2024 and Marvel Rivals offer XeSS 2 support. Still, fans can look forward to upcoming titles like Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Killing Floor 3, which are set to embrace this new technology.
Some titles have also started adopting Intel’s XeSS Frame Generation. Nevertheless, its availability falls short when compared to the Frame Generation techniques from FSR and DLSS. It’s worth mentioning that this technology is exclusive to Intel’s Arc Battlemage GPUs, currently limited in distribution with just the Arc B580 and Arc B570 available, albeit with limited accessibility.
