The latest adventure featuring Indiana Jones is leveling up, and fans of the game are in for a treat. The new update for “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” is now available, and MachineGames along with Bethesda Softworks shared what players can expect in this improvement on Tuesday. The patch promises to tackle a handful of bugs, some of which previously hindered players from advancing. PC players will see some enhancements specific to their platform, especially with smoother DLSS performance.
For those on the Xbox Series X|S, the update brings a refined ray tracing experience, ensuring lighting appears more natural and less overpowering than before. Here’s a detailed look at the changes included in Update 2:
### General
An issue where players’ save slots incorrectly appeared as corrupted or missing has been resolved.
### Gameplay
Problems with equipping Indy’s whip have been fixed, along with issues where his camera could become permanently held. Also addressed is a glitch causing players to lose their camera when attempting to quick-equip another item while inspecting pickups.
### Graphics
The nagging “double vision” effect that lingered after near-drowning has been fixed, with a simple repeat of the near-drown action to clear the display. Additionally, cutscene stutters have been reduced by preventing frame duplication.
### Missions and Quests (Spoilers Alert)
An issue obstructing Gina’s approach to the secret Vatican Treasure Chamber entrance has been mended. Gina will no longer prematurely pick the lock, ensuring players don’t miss essential story elements. A problematic spot near the edge of the Ziggurat in Sukhothai that players might fall through has also been patched.
### PC only
PC gamers will notice enhanced performance with Nvidia DLSS, which no longer causes slowdowns. Issues with Nvidia Frame Generation not activating properly when HDR is used, low latency mode causing glitches, and global illumination going awry due to insufficient VRAM have all been addressed. If HDR hiccups occur with Nvidia Frame Generation, toggling DLSS should resolve it.
### Xbox only
Xbox improvements target global illumination, tackling areas where shadows appeared brighter than intended.
### Enhancing a Remarkable Game
It’s great to see MachineGames continuing to polish “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.” With many players likely diving in for the first time during the holiday season, boosted by the Xbox Series X sales, these fixes are timely.
I’m particularly pleased with the advancements in global illumination on consoles. It’s a bold move to build a game that leans heavily on ray tracing, and the payoff for lighting, even on lower settings, is impressive.
In my review, I mentioned that “With its engaging exploration, perilous puzzles, and unexpected twists, ‘Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’ is a thrilling experience for those yearning for a classic adventure.”
