Huawei Set to Launch In-House AI Laptop in April with DeepSeek AI and Kunpeng-920 CPU Integration

Huawei is gearing up to launch its very first AI-powered laptop by April, and this groundbreaking device is expected to come with components entirely crafted in-house, highlighted by the Kunpeng-920 processor.

Huawei, the well-known Chinese tech powerhouse, seems intent on seizing the domestic tech scene. Having already made waves in the mobile and AI arenas, it appears their next big move is steering towards the commercial PC market. According to details shared by @tphuang, Huawei is preparing to unveil a self-developed PC soon. This device is anticipated to showcase Huawei’s homegrown components, a strategic move that streamlines the supply chain and potentially opens new avenues in the market.

Here’s what @tphuang mentioned in a recent tweet: Huawei’s domestic commercial PC is nearly ready. It will feature a 7nm Kunpeng-920 CPU operating at 2.6GHz, completely manufactured locally, including a Unisoc CT100-based power management IC to replace EPSON in the clock generator. It’s expected to operate on the PC version of HarmonyOS with a local development toolchain, and will also support DeepSeek for edge computing. The anticipated launch is in April.

Although specifics about Huawei’s forthcoming commercial device remain sparse, Huawei Central has suggested that the laptop will be part of the “Qingyun” series. This is an enterprise suite focused on notebooks, desktops, TVs, and more. Notably, the new laptop will integrate DeepSeek, mirroring the capabilities of Microsoft’s Copilot+ certified equipment. Huawei seems poised to capitalize on the AI PC trend, zeroing in on domestic consumers, which is fueling a lot of excitement around the upcoming release.

Interestingly, this laptop is reportedly built entirely from Chinese-made components, with the core of the machine being the Kunpeng-920 CPU. This processor is based on the ARMv8 architecture and is available with up to 64 cores. Although initially designed for servers, Huawei has adapted it for various markets with models featuring 4, 8, or 16 cores.

The device will reportedly run on the PC-specific version of HarmonyOS, with DeepSeek handling edge AI tasks. The performance of Huawei’s new gadget is highly anticipated, especially since the company is transitioning towards using its own products. While the planned release is in April, there isn’t an official announcement just yet. This move to in-house production marks an exciting next step in Huawei’s journey.
