Stalker 2 has certainly hit some snags with bugs right now, but there’s good news on the horizon from GSC Game World about a patch that’s set to address some of these issues.
When Stalker 2 launched earlier this week, it was a bit of a bumpy ride. While our own Connor found the charm in its imperfections for his review, the reception elsewhere has been mixed. Despite this, the game is faring pretty well on Steam, and modders have jumped in to tackle the stuttering dilemma right away. Fortunately, there’s a more official fix in the works. GSC Game World announced on the game’s official Steam page that a new patch is rolling out next week, marking the first post-launch update.
“The game has been out for several days now (it’s still surreal to say that), and we’ve been following your feedback in all possible forms carefully,” the team commented. “To the more than one million stalkers in the Zone, thanks for playing — that means the world to us. We are sure you have things to handle in the Zone, but so do we.” While they didn’t dive into every nitty-gritty problem, they did provide a solid overview of what’s in store with the upcoming patch.
For starters, expect fixes for crashes related to memory allocation failures. Main story progression is set to be tightened, resolving bugs like NPCs getting oddly stuck or quests with wrong markers. There will be adjustments to gameplay and balance, touching on NPC behavior and weapon prices, along with some tweaks to cutscenes and visuals. There’s more info lined up, but that’s for you to check out yourself.
Lastly, they made a point to mention a couple of stubborn issues slated for future updates: some dead zones with analogue sticks, and players’ concerns about the game’s A-Life system. They haven’t confirmed when patches for these will drop, so a bit of patience is needed here.
