Cards & Tankards, the social VR card game that’s free to enjoy, is gearing up for the release of a new expansion later this month. This engaging game, crafted by Divergent Realities, is accessible both on flatscreen platforms and VR headsets. Exciting news came from the studio, which revealed that the anticipated ‘Ashes of Ur-Enku’ expansion is set to deliver a bundle of fresh content. Players can look forward to 50 new cards, diamond animated variants, a variety of new cosmetics, an updated season pass, balancing tweaks, and rank resets—all promising to enhance the gaming experience.
The studio painted a vivid picture of the expansion’s theme: set in the wild lands of Ur-Enku, the expansion’s plot centers around the Plundering Guild. This adventurous group embarks on a perilous fire-hunting mission, a risky method that reveals buried Dwarven archives obscured for ages by thick vegetation. These archives document experiments involving Aether, a potent ancient force. Interestingly, only a single explorer will manage to survive this dangerous journey, the studio noted.
Since its launch nearly two years ago, Cards & Tankards has continually improved with a slew of updates. The latest major update was December’s Version 2.4, which addressed a range of issues, while Version 2.3 rebalanced over half of the game’s cards. Back in March, they rolled out ‘The Crusade of Sun & Stone’ expansion, and the late 2023 introduction of a ‘Ranked Mode’ provided players with a new layer of competition.
For those eager to dive into the world of Cards & Tankards, the game is currently accessible on platforms like Meta Quest, Steam, and Google Play. And mark your calendars because the Ashes of Ur-Enku expansion is set to go live on March 27.
