We’re thrilled to unveil Horde Assault, a standout addition to Days Gone Remastered. This survival arcade mode promises to up the ante on your gaming experience. Before we delve deeper, you might want to check out the gameplay trailer below.
Horde Assault is crafted to test your resilience and skill. You’ll face bigger hordes and tougher enemies—Breakers, Reachers, and the fearsome Rager bears, to name a few. Navigate through a harsh, evolving landscape where each moment is a battle for survival, and enemies grow more formidable the longer you endure. Rooted in the game’s core promise of “This World Comes For You,” Horde Assault transforms the open world of Days Gone into your playground for infinite grinding. Show those Freakers who’s truly in charge!
Your journey in Horde Assault begins by parachuting into Cascade with just a sidearm. Your priority is to survive the initial onslaught of Freakers and reach your Drifter bike—a key ally in traversing the terrain. Supply Boxes dotted across the map hold the key to your survival, offering weapons, including an all-new flamethrower previously unavailable in Story mode. With over 20 weapons at your disposal, each Supply Box has a random drop that resets with every new session.
Stay on your toes and keep your ammo stock full by completing Side Jobs. These mini-missions are crucial to your survival, especially when you’re outnumbered by up to 800 Freakers. Lasting 30 minutes on any map unleashes the Ultimate Horde: an endless wave of relentless foes bent on your demise. This is one surprise you’ll need to witness to believe.
Leveling up in Horde Assault brings rewards galore—playable characters, new patch cosmetics, and exclusive Injectors to heighten your gaming adventure. If you’ve played Days Gone before, you know Injectors well. In Horde Assault, Injectors now feature enhanced effects through modifiers. You can collect up to 24 Injectors, split equally between Positive and Negative types. Positive Injectors elevate your score but come with heightened difficulty, while Negative Injectors add survival perks but dock your score.
We won’t spill all the secrets just yet, but here’s a taste of the Injectors in store: Exploding Freakers, which blow up upon defeat—an invaluable asset against overwhelming hordes—and the Wanted Injector, which cranks up the difficulty from the get-go for an immediate intense challenge.
Progression through the Reward path unlocks levels offering new Injectors, character skins, and patch cosmetics. Among the rewards are six previously non-playable characters from Days Gone, including fan-favorites like O’Brian, Lisa, and Skizzo. Patches return too, this time as purely cosmetic accessories for Deacon. Display your collection in Enhanced Photo Mode; once unlocked, these patches transition seamlessly into Story mode. Surpass target scores in all four regions during the Reputation Phase for extra bonuses—one being a long-awaited bike-related item.
While Horde Assault is primarily considered end-game content, you can dive in right from the start of Days Gone Remastered. We recommend new players first acquaint themselves with the game’s combat mechanics in story mode, but the captivating world and daunting hordes of Horde Assault await the brave. This mode adds roughly 10 extra hours of action-packed content to an already extensive game, ensuring Days Gone continues to captivate.
So, when can you join the fray? Horde Assault becomes available on April 25, 2025, with Days Gone Remastered for PS5 and PC’s Broken Road DLC. Pre-orders for Days Gone Remastered are open now on the PlayStation Store, and those who own the PlayStation 4 version can snag all the new goodies for just $10 USD.
Keep a keen eye on Steam and the Epic Games Store to wishlist the Days Gone Broken Road DLC now. We’re excited for you to dive into the new content and relive Deacon St. John’s epic saga once more.
