Imagine something you’d never thought possible: embarking on a movie set tour from wherever you’re sitting right now. You’re about to explore all the setups, thrilling stunts, and meet the stars, with none other than director Eli Roth leading the way.
I’m thrilled to share this incredibly exciting video straight from the set of the upcoming video game adaptation, “Borderlands.” Roth, in collaboration with Light Sail VR, has captured some phenomenal behind-the-scenes footage featuring big names like Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, and Ariana Greenblatt. While this immersive experience shines best in VR, trust me, it’s pretty fantastic in 2D as well.
“I’ve always been a VR enthusiast, playing around with a GoPro 360 since 2018,” Roth mentioned in a statement. “Given the restrictions during the pandemic, I wanted to offer fans a genuine sense of being on set, as we brought the vibrant world of Borderlands to life. The stunning sets our art team crafted in Budapest are all there for you to explore. You’ll witness the actors in action, with Cate Blanchett and Ariana Greenblatt daringly leaping off a descending truck bed. Partnering with my friends at Light Sail VR, we wanted to create an immersive experience that envelops you in the heart of the chaos. This really captures the essence of what it felt like being amidst the madness of the Borderlands set.”
Get ready to dive in.
In the film “Borderlands,” Blanchett stars as a legendary bounty hunter who returns to her home turf, Pandora, on a mission to locate the missing daughter of the villainous Atlas, played by Edgar Ramírez. Along the way, she assembles a band of unique characters, all set to unravel one of the planet’s biggest enigmas. The cast also includes Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu, Gina Gershon, and Jamie Lee Curtis. Catch it when it premieres on August 9.
