Game Source Entertainment, alongside Tokyo Virtual Theory (TVT), has revealed that their upcoming rhythm roguelike action game, Ratatan, is on its way to the Nintendo Switch.
Ratatan, the spiritual successor to Japan Studio and Pyramid’s cherished game Patapon, unfolds on the island known as Rataport. This enchanting place is described as “as lively as a toy box,” standing in stark contrast to the vast, peaceful sea that surrounds it. It’s the home of the peculiar, animal-like creature Ratatan, who resides here in harmony with their companions, the Cobun.
Although the Cobun vary in appearance and personality, they share a collective aspiration: reaching The Everafter to meet The Goddess, who is rumored to live there. Despite facing numerous setbacks, they remain steadfast in their quest to one day meet her.
The game’s development is supported by Hiroyuki Kotani, the producer behind the Patapon series. Players will step into the shoes of Ratatan, wielding magical instruments to guide the Cobun army against adversaries by keeping beat with rhythmic commands. Achieving precision in these sequences initiates Fever Mode, where the music dynamically shifts, and the characters exhibit unique actions.
Come 2025, Ratatan will be available for digital download on the Nintendo eShop for Switch users around the globe.
