Nintendo has made it clear that exclusive titles will play a significant role when they roll out the next generation of their console, the Nintendo Switch 2.
This announcement came after a shareholder inquired about the future of new game releases for the Nintendo Switch, even after the debut of its successor.
Answering the question, Nintendo’s president, Shuntaro Furukawa, shared, “We’ve already lined up Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond for the Nintendo Switch, aiming for a 2025 release. As the Switch continues to enjoy a large player base, our aim is to keep launching enticing titles for the platform as long as there’s demand.”
He further elaborated, “However, introducing new hardware brings a need for exclusive games. Therefore, we’re exploring different strategies to make sure both the Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2 offer compelling experiences that attract a wide audience.”
Eager fans can look forward to more details on the new console during the Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 presentation. This event is set to stream on Wednesday, April 2nd, starting at 6am PT, 9am ET, 2pm BST, and 3pm CEST.
While the Switch 2 is slated for a worldwide release in 2025, the exact date is still under wraps.
