Virtuix is taking virtual reality experiences to new heights with its latest offering: an immersive tourism app for the Omni One VR treadmill. This app invites users to walk through some of the world’s most breathtaking destinations, bringing the thrill of travel to your living room.
On March 6th, Treks makes its debut for the Omni One all-in-one VR system. Imagine syncing immersive video with physical walking, allowing you to explore iconic locations like the awe-inspiring Grand Canyon, the bustling paths of New York’s Central Park, or the historic corridors of Riyadh’s Fort Masmak.
Brought to you by Virtuix Studios, Treks will be exclusively available on the Omni One Game Store and is priced at $30. At launch, the app will feature four main destinations:
- Grand Canyon – Navigate the trails and marvel at the breathtaking cliffs of this natural masterpiece.
- Niagara Falls – Witness the sheer force of the falls from both the American and Canadian perspectives.
- New York City – Discover legendary landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Central Park, and the Brooklyn Bridge.
- Saudi Arabia – Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Fort Masmak’s history and the beauty of Al Rajhi Mosque’s architecture.
Virtuix Studios has big plans for expanding Treks, with additional destinations coming soon as DLC. These updates promise even more landmarks, historic sites, and natural wonders to explore. Plus, the company highlights a health benefit of the app: an hour of walking in Treks is estimated to burn around 500 calories.
Jan Goetgeluk, Virtuix’s CEO, shares his enthusiasm: “With TREKS, you’re not just viewing these places—you’re part of them. It’s an engaging way to combine fitness and adventure, bringing the real world into virtual reality.”
Priced at $3,495, the Omni One system includes the innovative VR treadmill and a customized Pico 4 Enterprise headset. This setup is versatile, supporting native apps via its internal chipset, or it can be tethered to a VR-ready PC, either wired or wirelessly.
Following a recent update, the Omni One now boasts a library of over 55 games, with exciting new additions like Arizona Sunshine Remake, Arizona Sunshine 2, and Into The Radius. Moreover, the system is compatible with SteamVR titles, thanks to its Omni Connect PC Driver. This feature allows users to create custom configurations and tweak settings for games that weren’t initially designed for walking immersion.
Overall, Treks promises to deliver an unparalleled virtual experience, merging exploration and exercise in an innovative way that VR enthusiasts have long awaited.
