EA Sports FC 25 has just received a big update called First Frost, bringing a wave of new features and changes as we approach the holiday season. This update addresses various issues players have been vocal about, while also adding fresh content.
EA is no stranger to rolling out major updates this time of year. Last year, they brought out some quirky red and blue non-human players in videos to showcase the changes in EA Sports FC 24’s holiday update. However, it seems those robo-ballers are taking a break this time, unless they make a surprise appearance later.
In the pitch notes for the First Frost update, EA mentions that their goal is to address community feedback on almost all aspects of the game while introducing new strategies and personalization options. It’s a package full of changes and new features.
Among the standout additions are two new FC IQ player roles and adjustments to existing ones. The new roles include a “Classic 10” CAM, a traditional attacking midfielder who’s a central figure in offensive play, and a “Wide Half” CDM, a defensive player who covers the flanks and aids in building up play.
Other new features, some of which will arrive with upcoming server releases and squad updates following the First Frost launch, include fresh items for Ultimate Team, Max Tactics and Winter Match house rules modes for UT friendlies, and two new celebrations inspired by Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dusan Vlahović. Plus, there’s a charming new festive main menu theme.
That’s not all, though. Several modes and general gameplay aspects have also been revised based on player feedback. For instance, Rush matches in Ultimate Team are now five minutes long instead of seven. Additionally, gameplay improvements such as enhanced defensive logic, faster offside awareness by AI attackers, and less punishing skill moves for players with two-star skills should enhance your overall gaming experience.
EA also hints at further tweaks in future updates, focusing on elements like corner scoring, first-time power shots, first-time lobbed through passes, and jog dribbles. Changes and additions in clubs and career modes, including new double XP events, facilities, and youth player development tweaks, are worth noting if you’re into those modes.
