Destiny 2 enthusiasts recently whipped up over 3 million Gjallardoodles for Commander Zavala during The Dawning Bake-Off, as dedicated players embraced the latest Community Challenge. This event adds a dash of festive fun to the game, inviting players to bake various treats in exchange for rare emblems.
The Dawning, Destiny 2’s annual holiday event, typically kicks off in December and continues into the New Year while Bungie staff enjoy their winter break. As in previous years, players are tasked with gathering ingredients to craft cookies for Destiny 2’s NPCs. In return for their culinary efforts, participants earn currency, items, weapons, and more. This year’s event brings with it a fresh challenge for fans.
With the onset of The Dawning, Bungie introduced a new Community Challenge, encouraging Destiny 2 players to bake specific treats over the course of three weeks. Completing these baking objectives unlocks special emblems: Confectionary Commander, Epicurean Extraordinaire, and Handcrafter Hunter. Each emblem showcases a distinctive design centered around a Vanguard character, providing motivation for players to meet the challenge goals.
As the first week wrapped up, players successfully unlocked the Confectionary Commander emblem. During this period, Commander Zavala alone received over 3 million Gjallardoodles from eager gamers. The upcoming week challenges players to bake for Ikora, Eva Levante, and The Drifter, setting the stage for unlocking the next emblem.
Although participants hit their targets in week one, the fate of week two’s challenge remains in question. Destiny 2 faces a conundrum, with player numbers dwindling for various reasons. Reports indicate a significant Steam population decline, likely due to pauses between content drops and ongoing technical issues with the Episode Revenant. Bungie now faces the task of addressing these challenges to ensure the game’s vitality moving forward.
