It’s hard to believe, but it’s been ten years since Until Dawn made its debut, and I’m beyond excited to reveal the very first trailer for the movie adaptation, set to hit theaters soon.
The folks at PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures have teamed up with director and producer David F. Sandberg—known for his work on “Annabelle: Creation” and “Lights Out”—alongside writer and producer Gary Dauberman, who brought us films like “It” and the “Annabelle” series. Together, they’re bringing the thrilling experience of Until Dawn to the big screen. They’ve been careful to stay true to the game’s essence, especially the elements of making choices that lead to unexpected and often dangerous outcomes, while also ensuring the film is packed with entertainment and scares for moviegoers.
While the movie is set in the same universe as the game, it wasn’t our aim to just rehash the story. Instead, the film offers an all-new narrative with fresh faces in a story that stands on its own. If you’ve spent any time with the game, you know it’s full of surprises. We’ve designed the movie to keep audiences on the edge of their seats too, right up to the final moments. We can’t wait for you to see how the film intertwines with the events of the game.
A familiar face from the game, Peter Stormare, who played Dr. Hill, is crucial in bridging the game and the movie. His character’s story is explored further in the film, sparking new questions for fans to ponder. Given Peter’s integral role in both the game and film, it seems only fitting that he’s the one to present the first trailer to audiences everywhere:
“I’ve had the fortune of being involved with Until Dawn from its incredibly spooky start, and that’s why I’m thrilled to join the film. It’s truly a homage to horror, fully respecting the game’s spirit. The movie is loaded with new characters and unexpected twists, so whether you’re a seasoned fan or diving in for the first time, prepare yourselves for a whole new Until Dawn experience,” says Peter Stormare.
Dive into the premiere of the trailer now, and stay tuned for more updates as we gear up for Until Dawn’s theater debut later this year. There’s plenty more to come!
