Portia Maye, once a girl with dreams of adventure and her father’s affection, lived a life at sea. Everything changed with the attack of Mad Molak, a vicious pirate, who ravaged her father’s ship, the Nightsdream, leaving nearly no one alive.

Pulled into darkness as a captive navigator, Portia’s thoughts turned toward revenge. Her opportunity came when she guided her father’s ill-fated ship into Dragon’s Tooth, wrecking her enemies. Miraculously, Portia alone survived, apart from discovering her loyal pup, Snug.

Once the quintessential survivor, Portia endured the brutal slaughter on Nightsdream and years stranded. Yet, revenge consumed her thoughts, fueling an unquenchable bloodlust with each passing day.

Dragon’s Tooth, unbeknownst to Portia, was a Bleed—where dimensions intersect. Imagine colors swirling together as elements from different realms blend.

“Entering a Bleed is dangerous,” says Lead Narrative Director Jessi Thind. “Surviving it can make you lose your mind.”

Madness entwined with her violent mastery until her vengeance against Molak was fulfilled, solidifying her position in The Entity’s sinister realm.

Portia’s humanity only lingered with Snug by her side—a protector and ally, influencing The Houndmaster’s Power, utilizing Snug to hunt down survivors.

For the Black Talon

Growing up within the shadowy Black Talon, Taurie Cain dedicated her life to uncovering The Entity’s mysteries. Her parents vanished into a Bleed, only for Taurie to follow, preventing tragedy.

Her loyalty catapulted her through Black Talon’s ranks. While others like Haddie Kaur encountered the Black Vale’s sinister followers, Taurie gravitated towards darkness, believing The Entity held the key to immortality.

“As a Black Talon, Taurie believes she’s acting for humanity’s greater good,” Thind explains. “As she rose through ranks, darkness consumed her, forcing a pivotal choice.”

Faced with ritualistically killing Jordan Rois—a notable Survivor’s stepbrother—Taurie hesitated. This decision, among the last before entering The Fog, hinted at a crisis of faith.

She discovered a grim reality; her loyalty led to endless pain cycles. Yet, her resolve remained unfazed, committed to finding purpose beyond pain.

“Her belief in the Vale is an asset in The Fog,” Thind says. “Taurie thinks it’s all part of a divine plan, aspiring to be recognized by The Entity.”

But why would The Entity summon Taurie as a Survivor?

“The Entity thrives on emotion,” Thind notes. “Taurie’s presence introduces conflict. Her inability to connect with other Survivors fuels the Entity’s appetite for despair.”

Despite tensions, Taurie is determined to thrive. Her abilities focus on independence, drawing the Killer’s ire while turning suffering into strength.

It’s intriguing how both Portia and Taurie experienced the Bleeds, with Taurie seemingly unaffected. In another reality, their roles in The Entity’s realm might differ. Yet, once set, their paths are irreversible—the Fog dictates it so.
