Hello, everyone! I’m Juan Martinez, the executive producer at Fatshark and part of the team behind Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. A huge welcome to all PlayStation players eager to dive into the grimdark, four-player co-op adventure we’ve crafted just for you.
Today, something exciting happened: Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is now accessible for PS5 players who pre-ordered the Imperial Edition. We’re thrilled to announce that come December 3, the game will be available to every PS5 gamer out there.
Initially launched on PC back in November 2022, Darktide has been getting bigger and better with nine major additions and over 25 updates full of content and enhancements. The PS5 release is hitting the scene alongside our tenth major free update, called Grim Protocols, and trust me, we have even more lined up in the years to come!
Fast-Paced Combat, Fatshark Style
Creating a game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe has been a long-standing dream of ours, and Darktide is that dream come to life. Step into the shoes of a conscripted convict – a Reject – serving the Inquisition to reclaim Tertium city from the chaotic clutches of enemy hordes. Master a seamless blend of melee and ranged fighting, a system we’ve refined to perfection.
Bringing Warhammer 40,000: Darktide to PS5 and PS5 Pro
When crafting Darktide for the PS5, our mission was to offer the ultimate experience. We’ve tailored the game to match the PS5’s hardware, with a choice between Performance mode (60FPS at 1440p) and Quality mode (30FPS at 4K). PS5 Pro players can look forward to a smooth 60FPS at 4K, thanks to PSSR technology.
Our time with the PS5’s DualSense wireless controller was well spent. Its adaptive triggers and haptic feedback are designed to make you feel like it’s an extension of the Warhammer 40,000: Darktide universe. Whether you’re firing explosive rounds from the iconic Boltgun, taking aim with the Lasgun, or wielding a Force Staff, each weapon offers a distinct sensation every time you switch gear.
Automatic weapons have never been this satisfying, thanks to the DualSense controller’s haptic rumble and trigger sensations. You’ll feel the power with each shot, and the heightened trigger tension signals when ammunition is running low. Experience the raw pleasure of the Chainsword’s spin and the gruesome feedback as it cuts through foes. We eagerly await your reactions to these features once they launch on December 3.
Unlock Your Potential
To ensure you feel right at home in Tertium, we’ve included extensive options in the character creator. Tailor your Reject’s appearance, class, backstory, and voice to your liking. We aim for players to feel a personal connection to this world and its battles.
Each class boasts its own intricate talent tree, giving you the freedom to personalize your play style across three main domains and their variations. We’ve revamped the itemization system, offering the opportunity to gain expertise in any of the 40+ weapon families you choose to master.
An Ever-Evolving Game
December 3 marks not only the game’s PlayStation debut but also the rollout of our 10th major update: Grim Protocols. Here’s a sneak peek of what’s coming your way!
Prepare yourself for Havoc, a new endgame mode challenging seasoned operatives with formidable tasks. But first, you’ll need to conquer Tertium.
A new mission is joining our lineup of 20+ objectives, offering Rejects the challenge of navigating the Carnival, a notorious spot known for entertainment and shady dealings.
Additionally, we’re introducing three new weapon families to help you face the relentless enemy waves. Unleash chaos with the Two-Handed Force and Power Swords, and the Ogryn Heavy Stubber.
Stay tuned for official PS5 updates to keep abreast of all the new content coming in 2025. Warhammer 40,000: Darktide officially hits PS5 on December 3. Welcome to Tertium, Rejects. We’re rooting for your survival in the battles that lie ahead. For the Emperor!
