Bungie’s ‘Marathon’ to Launch on Xbox in September with a Closed Alpha Coming This Month

Bungie recently unveiled an enticing sneak peek of their upcoming extraction shooter, Marathon. This new adventure is set to hit the Xbox Series X and Series S on September 23rd, 2025.

In Marathon, you become a Runner, a cybernetic mercenary with unique powers. Alongside up to two other players, you’ll face off against hostile AI and competitive Runner teams as you navigate dangerous zones. Your mission? Collect weapons, implants, and gear, all while ensuring your survival. Successfully extract, and all your hard-earned loot stays with you for future escapades.

As you and your team enter the fray, expect to encounter relentless AI security and other ambitious teams competing for the same rare loot. The goal is to outsmart and outlast these threats. If you’re feeling extra daring, you can even embark on a solo run, claiming all the spoils for yourself without the help of teammates.

While the full release may seem a bit distant, there’s good news for those eager to dive in. A Closed Alpha is set for April 23rd, offering a chance to experience Marathon ahead of time. Interested players should head over to the official Marathon Discord server to sign up.
