Kluge Interactive, the creative force behind the acclaimed VR rhythm game Synth Riders from 2019, has some thrilling news for VR fans. The studio has just revealed that their eagerly awaited VR fighting game, FINAL FURY, will be available in early access on Quest and SteamVR headsets next month.
Scheduled for release on May 8th for Quest 2 (and newer models) as well as PC VR systems, Final Fury promises to deliver an arcade-style fighting experience packed with classic 1v1 battles. The game introduces an innovative gesture-based gameplay system that enhances the immersion.
The development team collaborated with nine-time EVO champion Justin Wong to refine this early access title. His expertise helped shape a mix of hand gestures and true room-scale movement, allowing players to embody six unique fighters, each with their own special moves and stages. More content is expected to be added after launch.
"When Kluge Interactive approached me about FINAL FURY, I was drawn to their vision of blending traditional fighting game elements with a first-person VR setup," Wong shared. "It’s exciting to play a part in refining features like dashes, grabs, and character styles. I can’t wait to see how players react when it hits Early Access."
At the early access launch, players can look forward to:
You are the Fighter! – Immerse yourself in VR combat using real punches, dodges, and blocks.
Innovative VR Combat – Enjoy nostalgic fighter mechanics adaptively reimagined for a physical gaming experience.
Expanding Roster – Start with six fighters, each with distinctive powers, arenas, and styles, with more to come.
Arcade Mode Unlocks – Battle AI opponents to unlock new fighters, stages, and cosmetics.
Online Multiplayer – Experience smooth, competitive play across platforms with rollback netcode.
Pulse-Pounding OST – An original soundtrack by Zardonic, known for SUPERHOT: MCD.
You can add Final Fury to your wishlist on the Horizon Store for Quest 2 and above, and on Steam for PC VR headsets. Mark your calendars for May 8th, when the game launches at a price of $9.99.
