Anomaly, the fresh extraction shooter birthed from the minds behind Swarm, is gearing up for its release on Meta Quest this December. Crafted by Greensky Games, the brains behind both Swarm and its sequel, Anomaly transports players to a dystopian cityscape in 2050. Here, warriors must skillfully maneuver through three unique levels, battling it out with ferocious rivals and monstrous creatures in a quest to secure a rare Artifact.
You have the option to tackle this adventure solo or team up with pals to form a squad of two or three. The familiar rules of extraction shooters are all here—dispatch your adversaries, outsmart AI opponents, stockpile valuable gear, and most importantly, make a clean escape. Fall in battle, though, and it’s back to square one as everything you’ve collected vanishes.
Peter Le Bek, the visionary founder of Greensky Games, shares insight into the inspirations behind Anomaly. In his words, “With Anomaly, we’re channeling the core excitement of games like Tarkov and Hunt: Showdown and turning it up a notch. It’s more than just about action; it’s the atmosphere, the spine-tingling thrill of narrowly escaping danger, and the anxiety of loss. We’ve crafted an extraction shooter specifically for VR, one where every match pulses with life, making each breath, each step, each decision resonant with a depth and intensity that conventional games simply can’t replicate.”
For those intrigued, a Closed Beta is currently available, and players eager to jump in can sign up through the provided link. Mark your calendars, as Anomaly makes its grand entrance on the Meta Quest Store this December.
