Schell Games and Innersloth have shared some exciting news: Among Us VR is set to receive flatscreen support, paving the way for VR and PC players to engage together in crossplay. This update marks a significant step as the game is being rebranded to Among Us 3D, introducing PC users to a first-person perspective for the very first time.
In a recent announcement, Schell Games confirmed that Among Us 3D will facilitate cross-platform lobbies, connecting PC and VR players across a variety of devices, such as Quest, SteamVR, PSVR 2, and Pico headsets. However, it’s important to note that Among Us 3D won’t be compatible with the original 2D version of Among Us from 2018. Since its VR iteration launched in November 2022, these versions have stayed distinct.
Ryan Hall, the Project Director at Schell Games, expressed his enthusiasm for this development: “With Among Us 3D, we’re thrilled to offer the first-person experience to an even broader audience. By bringing VR and PC players together, we’re creating more opportunities for fun and, of course, for some sneaky betrayal among friends.”
The rollout of this rebranding is expected to take place in the upcoming months. Players can expect to see updates reflecting this change across various platforms, including store pages, websites, and within the game itself. Among Us 3D is also introducing ‘Stardust,’ a new in-game currency designed to let players purchase cosmetic items while supporting the game’s ongoing growth.
As for when players can get their hands on Among Us 3D, a launch date hasn’t been set just yet. However, it might not be too far off since the game is slated for a feature at the upcoming Steam Next Fest. This event will offer an exclusive early demo, giving players a sneak peek before the official release.
