Ayaneo, the well-known maker of portable gaming consoles, has just unveiled its latest flagship model, the Ayaneo 3. This new entry builds upon the popularity of its predecessor while keeping a familiar design and button configuration. However, it introduces a host of hardware upgrades that gamers are sure to appreciate.
As shared on Ayaneo’s blog, the Ayaneo 3 is offered with a choice between two processors: the AMD Ryzen 7 8840U or the more robust AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. It also features a stunning seven-inch, high-refresh-rate LCD or OLED HDR display to completely immerse players in their favorite games. To enhance the gaming experience, Ayaneo has also added two additional buttons at the back of the device, giving users extra control options.
Currently, Ayaneo hasn’t disclosed further specifics about the Ayaneo 3, so gamers will need to stay tuned to find out more about its RAM, storage capacities, and pricing. Previously, the Ayaneo 2 was available with either 16GB or 32GB of RAM and offered storage options of 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB. It came with a starting price tag of $1,099, going up to $1,549 for the limited-edition B.Duck model. With that context, we might expect similar configurations for the Ayaneo 3, albeit at a slightly higher cost.
The Ayaneo 3 is noteworthy as one of the first handheld consoles to incorporate the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. Although current games might not fully tap into the potential of its NPU, the processor’s Zen 5 architecture, four additional cores, and AMD Radeon 890M integrated GPU promise to deliver a significant performance boost over the Ryzen 7 8840U. In fact, this puts it ahead in power compared to some of the leading PC gaming handhelds, which largely rely on the Ryzen Z1 Extreme.
With the market already brimming with enticing options, the Ayaneo 3 will face competition from expected launches like the ROG Ally 2, MSI Claw 8 AI+, and Lenovo Legion Go Gen Two, projected to hit shelves by late this year or early 2025. It will be interesting to see how the Ayaneo 3 plans to stand out from its competitors and the kind of gaming experience it will deliver to handheld console enthusiasts.
