Why I Recommend the Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset

Dell’s new “Pro” headset is a perfect companion to the Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Mouse and Keyboard, released earlier this year, completing their 2024 accessory lineup. In my review, I mentioned it’s the best wireless gaming headset I’ve tried in years, even surpassing my Razer favorites like the Kraken V3 Pro HyperSense and the Kaira Pro.

There’s a lot to love here, but what ultimately drew me to choose it over Razer’s products is the outstanding microphone. One of my qualms with Razer headsets is that their mic quality tends to be just average. However, the unidirectional mic on the Alienware Pro is exceptional, capturing my voice crystal clear without a hitch. This is particularly important as I spend most of my gaming nights chatting with friends over Discord. The AI noise cancellation is a bit strong, but you don’t have to worry about background noise if it’s turned off. In my experience, it passively does a great job of filtering out unwanted sounds.

The audio quality is equally impressive with 50mm graphene-coated drivers offering a rich, balanced sound with a broad 20-40KHz frequency range. Whether it’s lows, mids, or highs, everything sounds fabulous. For those who enjoy loud audios, the volume levels will surely satisfy. The speakers seem notably more powerful than many recent Razer headsets, even if they lack HyperSense or Sensa HD Haptics motors.

The fit is a tad snug compared to the roomy feel I’m used to with Razer, but it’s also lighter on the head, which is a balance I’m okay with. Thanks to an adjustable headband and flexible design, it fits various head sizes comfortably. The memory foam leatherette earcups are gentle against the skin, allowing for marathon gaming sessions without any discomfort. While I slightly prefer Razer’s thick, airy cushions for their coolness, the Alienware Pro comes quite close in terms of comfort.

In terms of design, Alienware leaned toward minimalism with this headset. There’s no flashy RGB or loud colors, just a sleek, simple rounded shape available in “Lunar Light” white or “Dark Side of the Moon” black. It’s well-constructed and includes handy onboard controls like a volume wheel, mic mute, an active noise canceling toggle, a power button, and a switch for toggling between 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth. Both wireless options have performed perfectly, and I nearly hit the 70-75 hours of battery life as advertised with ANC off before needing a charge. You can also opt for a wired connection if necessary.

The only minor drawbacks for me are the lack of Xbox console compatibility and the underwhelming ANC, but these aren’t deal-breakers since I barely use my Xbox and generally don’t favor ANC. If these are significant concerns, you might explore other top PC gaming headsets. However, if these points don’t bother you, this headset is a gem, especially at the $199.99 sale price at Dell. Since the day I got the review unit, I haven’t felt the need to switch back to my Razer headsets, and I doubt I ever will.
