Gaijin Entertainment, the creative mind behind the acclaimed War Thunder from 2013, has some exciting news for VR aviation enthusiasts. They have announced that their anticipated aerial combat game, Aces of Thunder, is set to make its debut on PSVR 2 and PC VR headsets later this year.
Originally revealed in 2023, Aces of Thunder was initially scheduled for a Q4 2024 launch. The game promises to bring an impressive lineup of the most iconic planes from both World War I and II to your very own VR setup on SteamVR and PSVR 2.
So far, Gaijin has unveiled a tantalizing selection of aircraft spanning both world wars. This includes legendary planes like the Fokker Dr.I, piloted by the infamous Red Baron, and the SPAD S.XIII, favored by René Fonck, the Allies’ top ace. These planes boast meticulously detailed cockpits, authentic weaponry, and flight mechanics designed for an incredibly immersive experience, according to Gaijin.
But that’s not all. The game will also feature a robust selection of WWII planes. Get ready to take to the skies in the American P-51 Mustang and P-63 Kingcobra, the German Bf 109 and Fw 190, the Soviet IL-2, the British Spitfire, and the Japanese A6M3 Zero.
While the exact release date remains under wraps, Gaijin has shared with Road to VR that the launch is penciled in for 2025. Until then, eager fans can express their interest by wishlisting the game on Steam and the PlayStation Store for PSVR 2.
Details about pricing are still up in the air, but rest assured, we’ll be keeping a vigilant watch for any updates on Aces of Thunder.
