NVIDIA and AMD are gearing up to make quite a splash in the world of affordable GPUs this May, both vying for a stronghold in the mainstream market.
## NVIDIA & AMD Set to Lead the Mid-Range GPU Market with RTX 5060 & RX 9060 XT
Right now, consumers in the low-to-mid-tier market feel a bit stuck. The availability of the latest-gen GPUs, especially from NVIDIA, has been tight, pushing prices way above their MSRPs. On AMD’s side, the RX 9070 series is so in demand that snagging one at MSRP is a rarity. However, both companies are set to change that. According to a report from Benchlife, we might see both NVIDIA and AMD launching new products next month.
Team Green is rumored to drop the GeForce RTX 5060 around May 19. This GPU will boast an 8 GB GDDR7 VRAM setup, cruising at 28 Gbps over a 128-bit memory bus. Expect a noticeable increase in power consumption, with a 35W TDP bump compared to the RTX 4060. Here’s how the RTX 5060 stacks up against its predecessor:
– 25% more CUDA Cores
– Same memory capacity
– Faster GDDR7 memory at 28 Gbps
– Increased bandwidth by 64%
– 30% higher power rating
Switching to AMD, the Radeon RX 9060 XT is expected to be showcased on May 21 at Computex, though it might hit retail shelves in June. Featuring the Navi 44 die on a 128-bit bus, it will come in 8GB or 16GB configurations, similar to NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 Ti. The RX 9060 XT will house 2,048 SPs, half of what the RX 9070 XT offers, with game clocks at 2620 MHz and boost clocks at 3230 MHz. This setup means it should deliver impressive performance in 1080p and 2K gaming.
We’ll cover the NVIDIA and AMD GPU launches live from Computex 2025, and if possible, we’ll offer some early previews. The competition in the mid-range GPU space is heating up, and May promises to be an exciting month.
