Hi there! I’m Oli, the game director at Kaizen Game Works, the minds behind Paradise Killer. Today, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news with you: our new open-world game, Promise Mascot Agency, has a demo out now on PS5!
We’ve poured our hearts into this game, and the whole Kaizen team can’t wait for PlayStation users to start playing. There’s something special about the PS5—it’s a powerhouse of a console, and at Kaizen, we’re all big fans. We’ve grown up with the PlayStation family, from the classic PlayStation to PS2, PS3, and PS4. Personally, I love collecting games from the PlayStation and PS2 eras, and those influences have shaped the design of Promise Mascot Agency.
I’m a big fan of PS2 games where you can just hang out and do interesting stuff. If you’ve ever tried games like Way of the Samurai, Raw Danger, Boku No Natsuyasumi, or Steambot Chronicles, you’ll know what I mean. They’re perfect for chilling, meeting unique characters, making decisions, and exploring at your own pace. That’s exactly the atmosphere we’re aiming for—a world full of mysteries, quirky characters, secrets, engaging gameplay, and an incredible vibe.
You’ll step into the shoes of Michi, an exiled yakuza lieutenant, teaming up with the unpredictable Pinky to save a struggling mascot agency. Michi’s determined to unravel a conspiracy that landed him in the haunted coastal town of Kaso-Machi, Japan. Here, mascots are real creatures and the town is a safe haven for misfits searching for purpose. Michi needs to gather a new team of mascots to save the agency and his yakuza ties back home.
Kaso-Machi is an intriguing place, overshadowed by a supernatural curse. With a mountain occupied by spirits and gods, it’s a land rich in superstitions and mystical tales. Michi will have his hands full dealing with ghost sightings, escaped sin talismans, and the legendary Tsuchinoko creature. However, a curse threatens any yakuza member who visits, rotting their body over time. Can Michi solve the conspiracy and save the agency before it’s too late?
Over the past four years, we’ve worked alongside talented artists Ikumi Nakamura and Mai Mattori to craft characters and the world of Promise Mascot Agency. Merging Kaizen’s style with Nakamura-san’s vision has resulted in an extraordinary, nostalgic feel. Our collaboration includes Japanese artists, musicians, and creatives, enriching the game’s world with authenticity. We love giving our team the freedom to create, resulting in a tapestry of influences and experiences.
Recently, we unveiled our voice cast, including the iconic Kiryu Kazuma’s voice, Takaya Kuroda, playing Michi. Having Kuroda-san on board is a dream come true. Paired with Ayano Shibuya as Pinky, they create an entertaining buddy-cop dynamic. Plus, we’re delighted to feature gaming legends Shuhei Yoshida and SWERY in their first voice acting roles.
We’re a small team, and creating this big, quirky 20-hour open-world RPG demanded everything we’ve got. We’re thrilled to finally share it with all of you. Enjoy the demo, complete with PS5’s unique controller haptics, adaptive triggers, and speaker features. We’ll share more about the full release soon. So, dive in, keep your promises, and chase those dreams!
Don’t wait—grab the demo on the PlayStation Store today!
