If you’re an NVIDIA enthusiast hoping to get your hands on the RTX 5090 or 5080 GPUs, you might find yourself waiting quite some time, particularly if you plan to buy from Overclockers UK.
The debut of NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series didn’t exactly go off without a hitch—it was more of a “paper launch.” Many retailers didn’t receive even a single RTX 5090 GPU, and those fortunate enough to stock any sold out almost instantly after release. The same happened with the RTX 5080, despite slightly better availability compared to its bigger sibling. Even so, it didn’t stop gamers from rushing to purchase regardless of the modest improvements over previous generations.
For those eagerly waiting to make a purchase, patience will be necessary. Overclockers UK has announced that both the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 are completely sold out, and pre-orders have been put on hold. This means you can’t even reserve your spot in line at their store. So, when can you expect them to return to shelves?
Overclockers UK has estimated that the RTX 5090 might take anywhere from 3 to 16 weeks to be restocked, while the RTX 5080 might make its comeback in roughly 2 to 6 weeks. If we’re looking at the maximum wait for the RTX 5090, it could be as late as May 2025. By that time, we should see the RTX 5070 Ti on shelves by February 20th and the RTX 5070 following in March.
Interestingly, the RTX 5080 could reappear as soon as a month from now. It was slightly more accessible globally but still fell short of meeting demand. Despite lacking significant generational improvements compared to the RTX 5090, its appeal was driven by maintaining the same price point as the RTX 4080 Super, which fueled the purchasing frenzy.
Some stores even saw eager customers camping out or receiving lottery tickets for a chance to spend big bucks on these coveted GPUs. However, for those who jumped on the pre-order bandwagon with Overclockers UK without getting a confirmation email, their orders might face delays in the queue.
Currently, Overclockers UK has stopped accepting pre-orders due to this situation. There’s still uncertainty regarding when other retailers around the world will replenish their supplies of these GPUs, but it doesn’t seem like it’ll be very soon. So, if you’re eyeing one of these high-demand GPUs, prepare for a bit of a wait.
