Massive Entertainment has dropped Title Update 1.2 for the game Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, marking a significant update just before the game celebrates its first year milestone. This update coincides with the release of the latest expansion, Secret of the Spires.
For those not familiar, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is an open-world adventure inspired by the renowned sci-fi film series by James Cameron. Launched on December 7, 2023, by Ubisoft, the game has been regularly updated with new features, improved stability, and essential bug fixes. This latest update is no different, boasting an expanded map and an extensive list of resolved issues.
On November 28, the same day the Secret of the Spires expansion was unveiled, Title Update 1.2 went live. This new paid expansion pack brings a fresh location named the Spires of the Clouded Forest, alongside a brand new story campaign. Players can also dive into new side quests, skills, and gear. Originally slated for a November 26 release, the DLC faced a slight delay due to a last-minute glitch that required urgent attention.
A standout feature of this update is the addition of support for the PlayStation 5 Pro. Gamers on this platform will enjoy Pandora’s breathtaking vistas at 60 frames per second in Quality Mode, double what the standard PS5 offers. Furthermore, the PS5 Pro harnesses PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution technology, an AI-powered upscaling tool, to enhance visual clarity, even for games not optimized for the console.
Title Update 1.2 also enables the use of skill points to unlock and upgrade new abilities for the game’s flying Ikran mount. In addressing a variety of existing concerns, the update rectifies issues that allowed players to receive rewards without completing tasks or looting.
PC players should prepare for a download size of 24.32 GB for this patch, while those on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will need 18 GB and 17.5 GB of free space, respectively.
Regarding the Secret of the Spires expansion, players can explore a new map area, the Spires of the Clouded Forest, which offers a range of new storylines, quests, and activities. You’re also encouraged to deepen your connection with your Ikran, unlocking additional skills and facing fresh aerial challenges. Interactions with new wildlife and environmental elements will pave the way for novel gathering techniques and traversal methods.
Progression Updates:
Across all platforms, players can now upgrade their Ikran skills using skill points, with abilities like Ikran Smash and Flares becoming available.
PlayStation 5 Pro Support:
Gamers will experience 60 FPS in Quality Mode, benefiting from superior rendering resolution and PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution for enhanced performance and image quality.
Known Issues:
From some players facing temporary performance challenges on Windows 11 to certain settings resetting on Xbox and PS5 consoles after idleness, the developers are aware and working towards permanent fixes.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora continues to evolve, offering both fresh content and technical improvements to enhance the gaming experience. As the game turns a year old, it’s clear that Massive Entertainment is committed to refining and expanding the world of Pandora for its dedicated players.
