In the period of six months leading up to September 30, 2024, the company managed to sell 4.72 million consoles. While this figure marks a 31 percent decrease compared to the previous year’s sales, Nintendo remains positive, emphasizing that the Switch continues to perform impressively when compared to other Nintendo platforms in their eighth year of existence.
Breaking records on multiple fronts, Nintendo has surpassed the 1.3 billion mark in game sales for the Nintendo Switch. This milestone sets a new standard for Nintendo platforms, with the Switch proving to be the most popular hardware for software distribution within the company’s history.
For those curious about which games are leading the charge in popularity, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has taken the top spot with 64.27 million units sold. Following closely are Animal Crossing: New Horizons with 46.45 million, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate with 35.14 million copies sold. Further down the list, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild boasts sales of 32.29 million, with Super Mario Odyssey reaching 28.50 million and Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield together selling 26.44 million copies.
Adding to this impressive roster, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet have achieved combined sales of 25.69 million. Not far behind, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has reached 21.04 million in sales. Meanwhile, Super Mario Party has sold 20.98 million, and New Super Mario Bros.
