If you haven’t gotten around to setting up a Nintendo Account yet, now’s the perfect time to do it—and it’s completely free! A Nintendo Account opens up a world of possibilities, including the chance to join the My Nintendo rewards program. This means you can earn points not only when you buy eligible digital games from the Nintendo eShop but also by using various Nintendo apps on your smartphone or simply by logging into Nintendo services like the eShop itself.

To download demos from the Nintendo eShop on your Nintendo Switch, you’ll need to register a Nintendo Account. Keep in mind, terms and conditions do apply.

If you plan on purchasing download games or grabbing demos and free software from the Nintendo eShop online, your Nintendo Account must be linked to your Switch console. Make sure your console is set as the active download device by visiting the eShop on that console at least once. Don’t forget, for any downloads to start automatically, your system needs to have the latest updates, be connected to the internet, and have automatic downloads turned on with enough storage space available.
